Martin Luther King, Jr. Quotes

七月 8, 2008

– If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven played music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.

– Everybody can be great … because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.

– Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.

– Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’

– Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.

– Only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars.

本来,我是要找寻这句话的具体原文:It is not the times when we triumph and are successful that make us who we are, but those when we are at our lowest and going through troubles.

    这是Louis Hamilton接受访问时说出的,来自马丁路德金,但是它忘了全句的原文。

    结果找不到,反而找到了上面那些。
